Kathy’s BIO

For over twenty years, Kathy Auciello’s passion for hair cutting and color has provided her clients with beautiful, trend-setting hairstyles.  Kathy’s understanding of the beauty industry and her clients’ needs enable her to create exceptional looks that can be reproduced at home.  Raised by entrepreneurs whose family business focused on customer service, Kathy instinctively knew how to create a warm, caring environment at Katana Salon.  Her ability to communicate well with clients and staff is evident in the success of Katana, which has doubled in size since opening in 2001.
“Your hair is such a big part of your identity,” says Kathy.  “As a young person, my hair was challenging and it took years to find the right stylist.  My salon staff and I listen closely to our clients, and share professional techniques that can help them look and feel their best every day.”
Kathy continually trains at the highest level to deliver cutting-edge services.  She participated in haircutting classes at Bumble and Bumble in New York, completed advanced ombre training, and has taken master color classes at Goldwell.  Kathy is certified in Keratin treatments by Global Keratin and Simply Smooth, and was trained and certified in hair extensions by So Cap Professional.  She regularly looks to industry experts for inspiration, attending seminars featuring Frederic Fakkai, Angel de Solar, and the Oribe team in New York.  On several occasions, Kathy has demonstrated her unique styling techniques on NECN.  Visit Katana Salon to learn the celebrity beauty secrets Kathy passes on to her long list of devoted clients!

Philosophy
I believe that having a passion for your work is the only way to succeed in any industry, but more specifically when it comes to your hair.
Once the cape has been removed, you will not only have an amazing new look, but also leave with the tools and techniques to complete it on your own. This will give you the confidence to allow your inner beauty to shine through. By constantly continuing my education in coloring, cutting and styling, my clients receive my best work at all times. I make it a point to keep my ideas fresh and new by pulling inspiration from celebrities and all of the latest trends, while still reflecting your personal style. Knowing that I get to make people feel like their best self every day is what keeps me motivated and helps me to be the best stylist I can be.
Each and every guest who sits in my chair gets my all because I truly love what I do. Let me show you what a difference that makes!

Becoming a hair stylist has changed my life. I love my job and the amazingly gifted team I work with and learn from every day. As an artist I am very passionate and truly within my element when I am behind the chair. Nothing compares to the indescribable feeling of helping someone look and feel beautiful. I thrive with a pair of scissors in hand and enjoy precision cutting to create texture and movement. As a colorist, I have well-rounded knowledge with experience in blonde/platinum, pastels and fashion tones. When I’m not styling hair I work on painting anything from my nails to custom murals. I often jump out of airplanes and always look forward to snowboarding season! That aside, I am just as happy with my Kindle and I am very fortunate to be doing what I love and I look forward to making your experience an awesome one.
